Korea Eximbank publicizes its new CI on 29th founding anniversary
In commemoration of its 29th anniversary, Korea Eximbank introduced a new corporate identity, which was publicized by the bank's president and CEO Dr. Shin Dong-kyu before some 600 bank executives an staff in a ceremony July 1.
To symbolize the progressive and challenge-loving spirit of the Bank, the letters , "K" "R" and "E" from Korea Eximbank are used in the new logo, expressing the Bank's dynamic expansion into the global market.
In his commemorative speech, President Shin highlighted the importance of building innovative capacity based on customer satisfaction, high business performance and efficient operation, reminding all employees that without constant changes and innovation, customers may instantly turn their backs.
Along with the new CI, EXIM WAY, Korea Eximbank's ideological scheme encompassing EXIM spirit and EXIMer, was announced. EXIM Spirit embodies the Bank's core values, and EXIMer defines the moral principles expected of the bank employees. Also on this day, the Bank opened the EXIM Consulting Center to enhance its support toward small and medium-sized exporters and customers satisfaction.
The bank held a dinner for all of its former presidents to commemorate the 29th anniversary and the release of the new CI at the 63 Building in Yeouido, Seoul. President Shin invited them to the dinner to listen to their opinions on the Bank's new development strategies and the most recent performance records.
Attending the occasion were Song In-sang, the first president of the Bank; Yang Yoon-sae, the second president of the Bank and former Energy-Resources Minister; Park Sung-sang, former governor of the Bank of Korea; Hwang Chang-ki, former head of the Financial Supervisory Commission; and Rep. Hong Jae-hyung of the ruling Uri Party, who also is former president of the Bank.
The ceremony commemorating the completion of the SKY PET plant was held in Poland on June 22. Korea Eximbank and EBRD with two other institutions provided $37 million for SK Eurochem in the form of project finance to construct the SKY PET plant in Poland. Korea Eximbank hereby became the first domestic financial institution to carry out project financing with EBRD.
In the beginning, the project was faced with significant challenges due to the issues surrounding SK Global(currently SK Network). Nonetheless, the project was successfully completed with active financial support from Korea Eximbank.
On the basis of project finance with EBRD, Korea Eximbank is expected to enhance its cooperation with EBRD, and support Korean companies planning to invest in Eastern Europe more actively.
A two-day symposium on "North Korea" Development and International Cooperation"held jointly by Korea Eximbank and the University of Korea Studies took place July 6 and 7 at Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Those who attended the event included Shin Dong-kyu, chairman and president of the Bank, Lee Bong-jo, Vice Unification Minister, Johanes Linn, former Vice President of the World Bank, and many other leading experts from home and abroad.
In the opening remarks, President Shin expressed his hope that the symposium will play a vital role in finding a better means for the cooperation between the North and the international community. Vice Unification Minister Lee stressed the importance of international cooperation and academic research on North Korea's economic development.
Jahanes Linn, in his keynote speech titled, "Transformation from Planned Economy to Market Economy,"pointed out that although there is no fixed answer to successful transformation, there are some important short, mid and long-term solutions to keep in mind. Short-term solutions include stable macro-economy and social safety net maintenance, and mid and long-term solutions include transparent public system, flexible market structure, and good corporate governance.
Overall, the symposium provided a good opportunity to examine and assess the possibility of international cooperation for the development of North Korea. nw
