Woori Supports Top-Graded SMEs Markets a coin commemorating APEC 2005 Korea
Hwang Young-key, president-CEO of Woori Bank, said his bank is ready to introduce a mileage point for top-graded Small Medium Enterprises as part of its efforts to provide a preferential treatment to long-term SME clients.
Woori President Hwang made the remark during a seminar organized by the Woori Bank Business Club, a volunteers' group of the CEOs of the SMEs with business ties with Woori Bank, at the Shilla Hotel in Jeju July 15-17.
Gong Byung-ho, president of the Management Research Institute, delivered a lecture, titled "Korea and the World's Path to Prosperity after 10 years" to about 300 members of the Woori Business Club participating in the seminar.
Hwang extended a heart-felt thank-you to the clients, including the member clients of the Woori Bank Business Club, for their help in elevating Woori Bank to the No. 1 position in the nation in terms of external and substantial aspects in the first six months of the year clients.
He vowed to make strenuous efforts to achieve the No. 1 position in all categories in the second half of this year and raise the brand value of the bank so that clients can take a pride in dealing in with the bank. Hwang said his bank will come up with a package of steps designed to support SMEs, including the "PB Solution" on asset management for consulting SME CEOs, and a mileage point for SME clients. The bank will provide more financial support to SMEs with technological prowess and open outlets for exclusively offering banking services to SMEs, he added.
Members of the Woori Business Club have joined the bank's social charity programs for helping the poor neighbors and supporting the poor self-employed.
The Woori Business Club is a volunteering group of SME managers, established to promote information exchanges and friendliness among the members. The bank provides to the members of the club such benefits as the reductions of a variety of service charges, provision of corporate information and arrangement of meetings on each industrial sector.
Coin Commemorating APEC 2005 Korea
Woori Bank will market a 99.9 percent silver coin that will be issued in commemoration of APEC 2005 Korea slated for coming November in Busan.
The reservations for purchasing 100,000 coins with a face value of 20,000 won - 90,000 coins put on the market in Korea and 10,000 coins in foreign countries - will be made available through Woori Bank head office, branch offices and via the bank's website. Each individual will be allowed to make an application for reserving up to two coins. The marketing price of the coin has yet to be determined. A coin commemorating the 50th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule was issued at a price of 26,000 won.
The front of the coin will carry the photos of APEC House, being built as the venue of the second APEC leaders' summit at Dongbaek Island in Busn, and the insignia of APEC 2005 Korea, while the back of the coin will have the emblem of APEC 2005 Korea. nw
