Discussion of Road Management 
in Case of Natural Disasters

The Joint Technical Conference 2005 was also held July 6 ahead of the ceremony for the commemoration of Road Day. Some 30 working level officials from six nations -South Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia -engaged in in-depth discussion.
The participants discussed ways of effectively managing roads in the event of major natural disasters, a topic which has emerged as the main concern in many nations in Southeast Asia.
Many sessions of the conference dealt with how to efficiently prevent possible disasters on highways and cope with other disasters through case studies.
Participants came with various kinds of ideas regarding measures to effectively manage roads in the event of natural disasters. nw
