Jeju Summer Forum to Expand
- To train CEOs from Japan, China and Korea to enhance their competitive edge
The Jeju Summer Forum will be expanded into a Northeast Asia Forum, Lee Kyu-hwang, president of the International Management Institute under the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) said April 15.
Lee, who has been designated president of IMI, claimed that he will devote his time to providing training to CEOs because the fortunes of companies depend on the abilities of their CEOs, especially their international competitive edges.
At his inaugural day, he said he will make the institute a training room for future talents for top managers and he will change curriculum and management ideas to be in line with the level of advanced countries.
Under his current plan, the Jeju Forum is scheduled to open in July will be expanded to include CEOs from Japan, China and Korea to become a forum for Northeast Asia, he said.
He also said he will expand education on market economy to college students and various civic leaders to lessen anti-business sentiments that have been causing trouble to business activities.
IMI became a separate entity under with the FKI in 1999 dedicated to training CEOs holding Jeju Summer Form for CEOs, among others.
Lee was a public servant working for the Ministry of Construction as National Land Planning Director-General before switching to the private sector as vice president of Samsung Economic Research Institute. He also was managing director of FKI. nw
