- Expands biz scopes from textile to high-tech industry

Since its establishment in 1966, Hyosung (Hyosung President-CEO Kim Jae-hak) has been playing a major role in the development of the nation's economy mainly in mainstay industries.
Starting with chemical textile industry, Hyosung has continued to expand its business scope to cover current units of heavy industries, textile, chemistry, construction, trade and information and communications, thus having become a robust business group representing Korea.
Hyosung is equipped with world-class technologies in the areas of power transformer and GIS. It is producing world-best products including the No. 1 tire code and No. 2 spandex. It accounts for world's largest market share for products like nylon, carpet, automated teller machine, and pet bottle.
Hyosung has been gaining trust from the market, domestic and overseas, by meeting the needs of the clients based on its knowhow and technologies accumulated over the past 40 years.
Having set up global network through some 30 local subsidiaries and overseas branches, the company has been constructing global production lines for the manufacturing of main items like power system, tire code, and spandex.
Hyosung is now poised to leap into a "super world-class enterprise" that will lead the future state-of-the-art industry and is strengthening international competitiveness through bold investment and development of key technology in future strategic industries.
While focusing on the existing key products like spandex, tire code, technical yarn and power system with the goal of sharpening its competitive edges in global market, Hyosung is also turning eyes to the client-first management with the spirit of "Our growth depends on clients' success."
Power & Industrial Systems Performance Group of Hyosung has made remarkable contributions to the development of key and electric industries in Korea through advanced technology and production capacity, and the best customer service for the past 40 years since it started its operation in 1962, along with earnest opening of heavy industry era in the country.
Power Systems Performance Unit is proud of having developed an extra high voltage transformer and an extra high voltage GIS for the first time in Korea. The PU strives to head for a Total Energy Solution Company to meet all needs of customers in the process from energy production to consumption as a leading company in electric equipment field
Industrial Performance Unit jumped to the top position in the fields of integrated machinery and plant engineering industry, including motor, gear reducer, wind power plant system, CNG charging system and ESCO.
EBARA Performance Unit is the biggest pump maker in the country and producing various kinds of industrial pumps with superior technology and development.
Power & Industrial Systems Performance Group which bears comparison with foreign advanced makers is prepared to make contributions to the nation's economic development, not to speak of heavy industry development, through expanded advancement in foreign markets and continued technology development
Hyosung has been strengthening research and development activities and exploring promising industries while seeking possible merger and acquisition among relevant divisions.
It developed the 765kv-level ultra high voltage electric transformer in 1992 for the first time in Korea and 6th time in the world and developed 800 kv two-pole gas insulated switchgear for the first time in the world, thus having become on same footing with ABB, AREVA and Siemens.
Hyosung's heavy industry division has been exploring Chinese market since it set up a factory for the production of 1,000 units of the distribution transformer per year in September, 2004.
It successfully got order for 800kv GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) in April in China for the first time among foreign companies, taking the lead in the Chinese electric power market which has been rapidly growing at 10 percent rate per year.
Hyosung is planning to strengthen businesses to get further order for electric transformer in the Chinese market and expand sales in the U.S. market ranging from ultra high voltage GIS.
In 2005, Hyosung's investment stood at 200 billion won (100 billion won at home and 100 billion won in overseas markets) and it is aiming to register 5 trillion won in total sales with 220 billion won in ordinary profits. nw
