FTC Warns Consumers
- Fair Trade Commission says firms use false ads and steep discounts
to deceive consumers
The Fair Trade Commission warned recently that 00 System (www.samilsystem.net), which was registered with Seoul City Electronic Transaction Center, may hurt customers with false ads that it will sell notebook computers at a 50-percent discount.
The commission said consumers should be very careful about those who said they can sell notebook computers at a 50 percent discount, department store goods coupons at 50-percent discount and electronic home appliances at a steep discount and put on fictitious marks of the Fair Trade Commission, Consumer Protection Agency and Seoul Guarantee Insurance and try to deceive consumers, requiring special attention from consumers.
To have a look at types of damage, most of those firms use spam mails to lure victims to their sites, and say they are holding commemorative and prize events and offer goods at a steep discount prices. They always demand cash for the goods they sell and their bank account numbers change very often with misrepresented identities abusing the marks of the Consumer Protection Agency, Seoul Guarantee Insurance, and the Fair Trade Commission. They don't deliver the goods that consumers paid for, and they do not even cancel the deal and give back the money. nw
