Han Takes the Helm at KHC
- New housing businesses including high-tech houses for those who work at home

Han Haeng-soo, new president of the Korea Housing Corp., said he feels great to become part of the company, which recorded a golden page in the housing history for the past 42 years.
The new chief executive officer(CEO) of the government-invested company said he would like to pay a deep respect to every officer and employee of the company for they have been working hard all corners of the country for the sake of those who don't have a house. He, at the same time, feels a heavy responsibility.
From the time, he made the decision to work for the company, he collected many information on the company some good and some bad among them. But he found out that many people in the country, especially in the government, are not that trustful of the company, although there are positive aspects, too.
He also found out that the company is faced with tough management problems.
In order to solve these problems, he has decided to pursuit following policies: First. Management will be centered around jobsites because too many bosses make an organization less dynamic with responsibilities dispersed too much. To raise the level of customer satisfaction, experts in the field should solve problems in a speedy manner. Experts in the frontline should take care of every day businesses, while managers should take charge of setting up strategies to cope with changes in management environment and external businesses.
The new president said he will see that many authorities delegated to jobsite personnel following personnel and departmental reorganization and give credit to where it is due.
Second. Han said personnel policies will be fair and those who hard will receive rewards. He said personnel affairs are every thing. He will make sure that those who work hard are awarded while those who don't will be punished.
Those who take it easy resting on their past performance records and vested rights and thus hamper the organization's progress will be allowed to be disintegrated under a new environmental regime. The performance evaluation will be fair and objective under a new personnel culture, which sees performance records and capabilities critical. Those who work hard will be the masters of the company, Han said.
Third. The new president said every one should be on guard against corruption through the practice and awareness under a new system to prevent it before it is committed.
He said past mistakes will be forgiven, but new ones will not go unpunished.
Fourth. The company has been undertaking the construction of rental houses for those who cannot afford to own their own houses as its main objective, but this policy will now include building rental houses for middle class families and high-tech houses in the age of IT, especially, for those who do their work at home and in response to the call for diversified residences.
He also said he will seek project financing in a positive manner. At the same time, the company will work hard to help the government's plan for balanced development of the country, while expanding overseas projects and its North Korean housing businesses.
Five. He will also see that well qualified builders are selected through biddings and good materials are used to build houses by improving the bidding systems for builders and material. He will also make sure that customers will be invited to housing building sites so that they will be able to participate in the housing construction process and their opinions are reflected in the products.
Han also called for a harmonious labor relations at the company, which he said has been a good one. He will see under his regime that labor-management will remove difficulties through hear-to-heart talks for the common good. He knows that labor-management relations have been smooth at the company thus far, despite the president was vacant for over two months.
He said he will do his best to catch up and set up a common goal through the collection of employees' ideas and work together to achieve it. nw
