Korea Ad Congress under Theme of "Read Future, Lead Culture"
- Kyobo Life wins grand prize for its ad on life insurance
"Read the Future, Lead the Culture," was the theme of this year's Korea Advertising Congress took place on Nov.10 at the Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel sponsored by the Korea Federation of Advertising Associations.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Korea Broadcasting Committee and the Korea Broadcasting System(KBS) backed up the event as supporters.
Chairman Nam Sang-jo of the Korea Federation of Advertising Associations in his welcoming speech, said to understand the culture of a country, one should take a look at the ads on TV and newspapers as a saying goes. Ads have become a mirror for reading an age and a root force moving the world, he said.
He said several years ago during the World Cup, we saw how powerful a medium ads were. We also know well how new media channels emerged recently changed our life. Ads now are part of our life and we breath, along with ads.
He said "Read the Future, Lead the Culture," is the theme of this year's Korea Advertising Congress to show how dynamic the ads can be in our life and stories of the world made by the ads. You worked hard to change the world during the past year and lets try to move a step up at the Congress this year by once again gathering up your passion together, he remarked.
This year's Congress had a number of purposes including providing a chance for advertising people to create a momentum for further development of the advertising industry; striving for balanced development of the ad industry through mutual exchanges with industries related with the ad industry; diagnose the current ills of the ad industry and search for their solutions; try to improve the quality of ad men by holding the presentation of papers and training courses; and Boost the pride of ad men by providing chances for those who made successful contributions to win awards including the Republic of Korea Grand Advertising Award.
Kyobo Life Insurance won the grand prize in the category of corporate advertisement. Its advertiser was Wellcome and produced by Inkspat Pictures, Moby Dick, and MASSMESSAGE.
President Park Sung-kyu received the award. Seo Chon-il, brand team head and section chief Cho Sun-young were in charge of the ad.
GM Daewoo won the gold prize in the TV ad category. Cheil Communication was its advertiser with Alpha Ville being its producer.
Samsung Renault Motors also won the gold prize in the newspaper category for its ads on SM3 sedan. Its ad company was Wellcome. CJ Home Shopping grabbed the silver award with its ad on bags. Its ad agent was Cheil Communication and ad producer PYX Film.
Yuhan-Kimberly won the silver prize in the radio ad category with its ad on making Our Mountain Blue and Blue.
SK Telecom won the silver prize with its ad on "New Republic of Korea" series in the newspaper category. Its ad agent was TBWA Korea. Iriver won the silver award with its ad on "Take Out Iriver" series in the magazine category. Its ad agent was Diamond Panning.
Seoul Milk clinched the bronze award with its ad on "Three Times Daily, If Loves," series in the TV category. Its ad agent was Cheil Communication and ad producer Uranium. Haitai Beverage won the bronze prize for its ad on "We Have Some More" series in the newspaper category. Its ad agency was LGAD.
KT & G won the bronze prize with its ad on "Imaginative Theme Park" series in the SP category. Its ad agency was Ana Planning with ad producers Dream Sky and Adma Planning.
Samsung Fire Insurance won the bronze award with its ad entitled, "Consumer Certificate" in the category of the Internet. Its ad agency was Dano Communications.
Kyobo Life won the bronze prize its ad entitled, "Poem and Song Giving Strength to Mind" in the radio category. Its ad agency was Wellcome and ad producer The Show. Hyundai Card on the special prize with its ad on "Memory of Murder, Old Boys and Scandal" series. Its ad agent was TBWA Korea and ad producer MASSMESSAGE. Advertisers in charge; Kim Byung-kyu, Seo Chun-seok and Han Mi-kyung.
Korea Non-Life Insurance Association won the special award with its ad on the association's traffic safety campaign. Its ad agency was Hakuhodo Cheil and ad producer Naska Pictures.
Taepyeongyang Pharmacy won the excellence award with its ad on voluntary service in the pharmaceutical sector.
CJ won the excellence award with its ad on "Cuisine Lives" series in the food sector. Its ad agency was Cheil Communication.
Lotte Chilsung Beverage won the excellence prize with its ad on "Clear and Clean World Must Be Kept" series in the category of the beverage and alcohol category. Shin Jung-hee was in charge of the ad.
Samsung Electronics won the excellence award with its ad on SyncMaster in the category of electronic and electric, precision and office equipment category. Its ad agent was Cheil Communication and ad producer Moby Dick. Yoon Byung-hoon was in charge of ad. The company also won the excellence award with its ad on Anycall SCH-V500 in the category of communication service, communication equipment, Internet-related services.
Samsung Renault Motors won the excellence award on its SM5 sedan in the category of automobile and transportation. Lim Soo-bin was in charge of ads for the company.
POSCO captured the excellence award with its ad on Friend in the category of construction, equipment, and home appliances. Its ad agent was MBC Adcom. Lee Hyung-kyu was in charge of the ad.
LG Cable won the excellence award in the category of electronic and electric and office equipment. Its ad agency was LGAD with Cho In-mook, and Lee Hoon-ki in charge of ad.
Korean Airlines won the excellence award in the automobile and transportation category with its ad on overseas Koreans. Its ad agency was LGAD with Kim Hyun-ki in charge of the ad.
Nike grabbed the excellence award in the category of distribution, taste, sport equipment, publication and service with its ad on speed. Its ad agency was LGAD.
Kyobo Automobile Insurance captured the excellence award wit its ad on repurchase of insurance policy in the category of finance, insurance, and stock. Woo Chol-hee was in charge of the ad.
AmorePacific won the excellence award with its ad on whitegen in the category of fashion, cosmetics, and beauty products. Lee June-soo was in charge of the ad.
Haechandle Co. captured the excellence award for its ad on red appetizer in the category of food. Its ad agency was Cheil Communication.
Doosan Corp. won the excellence award for its ad on Chongha, an indigenous alcoholic beverage in the category of the Internet. Its ad agent was Oricom.
KT Freetel won the excellence award for its ad on drama in the category of communication service, communication equipment, and the Internet-related service.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare won the excellence award for its ad on no smoking campaign in the category of pop and posters. Cho Kyung-sook was in charge of the ad.
SK Telecom won the excellence award for its billboard ad on "twins" series with Min Byung-koo in charge of the ad.
