IT SoC 2004 Display Showcases SoC Products
- Holds a computer fashion show and SoC robot war game

The Ministry of Information and Communication held an exhibition entitled, "IT SoC 2004 and Next Generation Industrial Exhibition," for two days from Oct. 27 at the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX) in southern Seoul. The display was intended to display the system on chips both at home and abroad and the trends in the next generation PC industry.
MIC also held an international conference on the exchange of information and technology, along with such auxiliary events as the "Computer Fashion Show" and "SoC Robot War", to make the exhibition more colorful.
MIC had the support of such organizations as the Institute of Information Technology Assessment, the Korea Software Promotion Association and the Electronic and Technology Research Institute and the SoC Association, to name just a few.
A number of both large and small electronic equipment makers such as Samsung Electronics and Magna Chip Semiconductor, along with ETRI had their products on display including PDAs, smart phones and various information terminals.
Also on exhibition included wristwatch type computers, bio shirts in the next generation PC field and low-power graphic SoC, SoC for airwave DMB terminals and the progress of research on SoC sector to show the levels of development of those new products.
Domestic electronics parts makers took advantage of the event to hold sales negotiations with foreign buyers.
A number of Chinese buyers joined in the sales talks with domestic makers including Emtec Vision and Tomato LSI - altogether 26 took part in the discussions. In an effort to show off diversified usage of next generation computers following the arrival of ubiquitous computing age, a fashion show for computers that can be worn took place at the event.
About 15 male models showed that they could deliver a message by shaking hands with each other. Also on display were wristwatch-type PCs, which can engage in telephone conversations on screen and other next generation PCs being developed. There also were facilities for guests to experience the next generation PC environment. They were able to move robots with their brain waves, discriminate smells, recreate technologies and others such as the 3rd dimension smart input.
College students and other individuals making up 16 teams competed in "An Intelligent Robotic War Game" attacking each other with lasers. They were selected from 100 teams through a competition.
An international conference took place during the exhibition, which had panelists from Japan and China, along with experts from home, present their papers, or make speeches on SoC development with the theme of the conference having been "What are problems with SoC industry?" They talked about worker training, and cooperative system between the system industry and parts industry. Also, introduced at the conference include such products as wearable computing technology and the realization of e-Health. nw
