GM Daewoo Unveils New 2005 Rezzo
- New compact sedan features strengthened safety facilities

 
GM Daewoo launched the debut of its new 2005 Rezzo  Sept.7. The brand new sedan is featured by strengthened safety and specifications of a luxury car with  large radiator grills with a new 15-inch alloy wheel giving the automobile more refined look.

In addition, the car's interior is harmonized by a new fabric seat cover and a beige color interior. The parking brake lever and inside door handle have chrome coating, giving out a fresh image.

The brand new sedan comes in all kinds of exciting colors including imperial blue and denim blue with a side air bag. It also has an auto light control headlamp, which automatically expands and contracts depending on the lightness outside and rain. It also has automatic rain sensing wipers.

The brand new sedan comes with an automatic door locks, which lock automatically if the car speeds over certain limit.

The automaker's Allan Batey, vice president in charge of marketing, said LPG-driven cars now have an economic advantage over other models because of the government's change in its energy price structure. He said the new Rezzo will lead the way for the comeback of LPG-driven compact cars. The price of new Daewoo sedan ranges from 11.54 million won for gasoline-powered models, and 12.7 million won for LPG-driven models.

Nick Reilley, the automaker's president and CEO, said the company has been striving to be the most trustworthy firm in the world, giving its customers its maximum value with its corporate slogan being "Driving Innovation." The most urgent project for the company is to renew its relationships with customers. We would like to make GMDaewoo, a company which listens to what its customer wants on an individual basis.

To carry one with this promise, the company set up a new Internet homepage in the hope that the company would be able to have closer contact with customers.

We would like to make the homepage a real meeting place for its customers, providing fresh news and pleasure, valueing their opinions. We would like to make this an open homepage for compliments as well as complaints from our customers, the GM Daewoo CEO said.

The automaker has plants in three locations in the country and one in Vietnam.

The Kusan plant is the largest with the capacity to turn out 300,000 vehicles a year. It is equipped with high-tech equipment ranging from automatic facilities and production control systems. The company said it is the plant with the highest quality and productivity in the world with human-centered working environment. The plant built in 1997, produces Lacetti and Rezzo sedans. It has a pressing factory, painting factory, assembly factory, in addition to three parts assembly plants such as suspension and air conditioners. The plant also has a test driving course. It has a auto parts production complex about 2 km away, in addition to an exclusive wharf with a berth for 50,000 ton cargo ships, making the plant one of the most efficient ones in the country.

The Changwon plant was built in 1991 for small sedans and light commercial cars, able to turn out 240,000 cars a year.

The plant has a pressing factory, body factory, paint factory, , assembly plant and an engine factory. It produces Matiz, Labo, Damas, engines and transmissions.

The Bupyeong plant is the oldest one among the automaker's plants built in 1962. The plant went through a number of expansion in 1986, 1996 and 2002 with a capacity to turn out 500,000 cars a year.. It has a pressing factory, body factory, paint factory, assembly factory and an engine factory with its location close to Seoul.

The motor company has a fully owned auto company in Hanoi Vietnam, named GM Daewoo Vietnam Auto & Technology, which produces 20,000 sedans and 2,000 commercial vehicle a year. It produces Matiz, Lanos, Nubira and Magnus.   nw
